In Acts 20:17–38, the Apostle Paul gives a heartfelt farewell to the elders of Ephesus. As he reflects on his ministry, we see the character of a servant who remained faithful to the work God had given him, even through difficulty and opposition.
In this message from The Unstoppable Church series, Pastor John Mix examines five characteristics of a faithful servant:
- Serves with Humility — Exalting Christ rather than self and serving others with genuine compassion.
- Stays Focused — Following the Spirit's direction and remaining determined to finish God's course despite hardship.
- Proclaims the Whole Counsel of God — Remaining faithful to the complete truth of God's Word.
- Protects the Flock — Watching carefully for spiritual danger and deception.
- Depends on the Word of God — Trusting Scripture to build, bless, and guard God's people.
Paul could leave Ephesus knowing that he had served humbly, preached faithfully, endured courageously, warned diligently, and trusted completely in God's Word.
His example leaves each of us with an important question: Are we faithfully completing the work God has given us to do?
Our greatest legacy will not be what we accumulate, but how faithfully we serve Christ and influence others for Him.
