Acts 23–24 (KJV)

How can a Christian remain faithful and even cheerful when life seems completely out of control?

In Acts 23–24, the Apostle Paul faces hostility, false accusations, imprisonment, a conspiracy against his life, and an uncertain future. Yet in the middle of the crisis, the Lord comes to Paul with a powerful reminder:

“Be of good cheer, Paul…” — Acts 23:11

In this message from The Unstoppable Church series, Pastor John Mix examines how Paul remained courageous and faithful when his circumstances seemed to stand against him.

Paul’s experience reminds us that:

  • Our testimony still matters under pressure. We are called to live with integrity and allow Scripture to shape our responses.
  • Our Savior is near. Jesus did not promise Paul an easier road—He reminded Paul of His presence.
  • God’s providence is still at work. Even when Paul could not see what was happening around him, God was working through unexpected people and circumstances.
  • Our convictions should remain firm. Paul responded to false accusations with truth rather than fear.
  • Our response to God cannot wait forever. Felix heard the truth and was convicted, but postponed his response while waiting for a more “convenient season.”

Acts 23–24 presents a remarkable contrast: Paul is the prisoner, yet spiritually he is free. Felix is the judge, yet spiritually he remains bound. Through it all, Paul can remain cheerful because his testimony is real, his Savior is near, his future is secure in God’s purpose, and his message still needs to be proclaimed.

Whatever crisis you may be facing, remember: The Lord did not promise Paul an easier road. He promised Paul His presence.

Sometimes the greatest miracle is not that God removes the trial, but that He gives us grace to remain faithful through it.

“Be of good cheer.” The Lord is still standing by His people.
