Acts 25:1–27 (KJV)

In Acts 25, the Apostle Paul finds himself surrounded by competing pressures. Religious leaders want him condemned, political leaders are concerned with keeping the peace, and his future remains uncertain. Yet while everyone around Paul has an agenda, his allegiance has already been settled: he belongs to Jesus Christ.

In this message from The Unstoppable Church series, Pastor John Mix examines what Acts 25 teaches us about remaining faithful when the world pressures us to compromise.

Paul's example reminds us that:

  • Christ must have first place. Our ultimate allegiance does not belong to politics, possessions, popularity, or personal ambition—it belongs to Jesus Christ.
  • Conviction should not change under pressure. Paul faced accusations and opposition but refused to compromise simply to make life easier.
  • Christians should respect lawful authority. Paul exercised his legal rights while maintaining his allegiance to Christ. Government has legitimate authority, but God has ultimate authority.
  • We are ambassadors for another Kingdom. We live, work, serve, and raise our families in this world, but ultimately we belong to Christ and represent Him wherever we go.
  • Our hope must remain in God. Paul could not see everything God was doing, but his confidence rested in the God who controlled his circumstances—not in the circumstances themselves.

Acts 25 challenges every believer to ask three important questions:

Who owns my heart?
Who controls my decisions?
Where is my hope?

Paul's circumstances changed, but his convictions did not. His location changed, but his mission did not. His audience changed, but his message did not. His chains changed, but his allegiance did not.

The challenge for us is to settle the same things in our hearts:

Christ will have first place.
I will stand faithful.
My hope will remain in God.

Christ before Caesar. Conviction before convenience. Faith before fear. Hope before despair. And Christ above all.
